Old Dominion University has recently tested the ability for pulsed electric fields to prevent the biofouling of organisms (brine shrimp) found in water pipes. See the animation here.

ODU has also shown the response of calcium deposits to 300 ns pulses, releasing these deposits and immobilizing the cells. This animation can be seen by clicking here.
