ECE Addendum to UNM Acceptable Use Policy 1. Do not give access to your account to anyone. Any actions performed by an individual given access to your account are viewed as if the user committed it themselves. While the user may be innocent of any misconduct, in may become a great inconvenience and possible loss of ECE account privileges if a misuse occurs. No members of the computer support group may work on a user account without the user present or their express verbal or written consent. Please contact the computer support group personnel in rooms 213 or 214 if you are unsure. 2. Do not circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, system or network security as these events are logged. While unknowing attempts may occur; specific, deliberate and/or repeated attempts will be documented and reported to the department chair for possible disciplinary action. 3. Do not deliberately cause a denial of service attack on the network. Specific, deliberate and/or repeated attempts will be documented and reported to the department chair for possible disciplinary action. 4. Do not create and/or deploy programs that secretly collect information about other users and computers. Specific, deliberate and/or repeated attempts will be documented and reported to the department chair for possible disciplinary action. 5. Do not read a file that is not owned by the user even if it is publicly available without the express permission of the owner. Specific, deliberate and/or repeated attempts will be documented and reported to the department chair for possible disciplinary action. 6. Do not use any ECE department account for commercial purposes. 7. Do not intercept or monitor any network communications not explicitly meant for the user. 8. Treat all ECE department resources with respect and care. Misuse or vandalism will be documented and reported to the department chair for possible disciplinary action.
