Outstanding Student Awards, Electrical & Computer Engineering - Spring 2005
05/06/2005
Outstanding Junior in the ECE Department: Craig Vineyard
Craig came into the ECE department in the summer of 2003 and is majoring
in computer engineering. He has a high GPA and was named the
department’s outstanding sophomore for his first year here in Spring
2004. In his spare time Craig enjoys basketball, and he was recently
elected Bridge Correspondent for the Eta Kappa Nu Honorary Society. He
plans to do a summer internship either at Honeywell or here in the ECE
department with Dr. Heileman. Congratulations, Craig.
Outstanding Senior in the ECE Department: Tabitha Ashley Peyton
Tabitha has the highest degree grade-point average that ECE has ever
seen. She is currently completing the new 3-2 MBA Electrical Engineering
Program while working at Sandia National Labs. She is well thought of in
her department and was nominated for this award by Dr. Marvin Daniel,
who is in charge of the Senior Design Labs and is also one of Tabitha's
supervisors at Sandia. In February, Tabitha was chosen to represent ECE
at the Annual Engineers Week luncheon and was recognized there for being
an outstanding student. She is also a member of the IEEE and the Eta
Kappa Nu honorary societies. Congratulations, Tabitha.
Outstanding Graduate of the ECE Department: Henry Nelson Jerez
Henry recently completed his Ph.D. in computer engineering. Of his
several publications, one was awarded the best graduate-level technical
paper at the MAES International Symposium. He also earned his master’s
degree in electrical engineering at UNM, and he worked for Los Alamos
National Laboratory and for ISTEC here on campus in the area of
knowledge management. Originally from Bolivia, Henry and his wife and
their two sons have recently moved to Reston, Virginia, where Henry
works full-time for the Corporation for National Initiatives.
Congratulations, Henry.
