Undergraduate
Cooperative Education Program
Engineering students are entitled to
participate in the Cooperative Education Program as are other
engineering students. Basically, the Co-op Program alternates
periods of school with periods of practical work experience
in a technical job. May companies inside and outside New Mexico
participate in this program.
The program has two main advantages.
First, it allows the student to earn money, and second it
allows the individual to learn first-hand what engineering
is like as well as to provide incentive for learning the course
work that follows. Credit may be earned toward your degree
by taking the co-op courses Engr. 109, 110, etc., and writing
a report based on your work experience. (See the ECE co-op
advisor for a set of guidelines for writing these reports).
For further information on what co-op
jobs are available, visit the UNM co-op office
online.
